LYMM Rovers celebrated their 30th anniversary by hosting a touring American side on Friday.
Rovers’ more recently founded girls’ side were selected to face Massachusetts outfit Dover Sherborn Girls.
Lymm got off to a shaky start, with keeper Fran Yates doing well to palm a long range effort over the bar for a corner.
The American girls were stretching Lymm with fierce passing, but when Rovers’ Lilly Parson fed Amy Fearnhead, she crossed for skipper Tiara Reyes, whose shot was well blocked.
Charlie Hamp then saw her header saved, while Emilia Hardman’s effort was also blocked before Sherborn claimed the only goal of the game despite Etty Colcough and Izzy Reader’s best efforts.
Manager Carla Garbrah said: “The game was a great success, considering we haven't started pre-season training yet.
“I am so proud of each of the players. Dover Sherborn Girls were a delight to watch.”
Lymm Rovers Girls are searching for new players aged six to 14, anyone interested should contact Carla on 07795065703.
