Rhyl 3 Warrington Town 1
WARRINGTON Town kicked off their pre-season campaign with a late defeat at Welsh Premier League outfit Rhyl.
Manager Shaun Reid used the game to field a number of trialists, but four early chances fell to regular Ash Ruane and he failed to convert.
The experienced Ashley Stott opened the scoring for the Lillywhites from outside the area and two great blocks from Karl Wills ensured it remained 1-0 at half time.
Changes at the break saw Dylan Glass, Chris Bandell and two trialists come on and on the hour a well-worked Chris Gahgan free kick was slotted home by Bandell.
Wholesale changes were made, with boss Reid entering to bolster the midfield towards the end.
Town eventually went down to Stott and Julian Williams goals in the last 10 minutes.
