Greenalls PSO 2 Linotype CHN 2

GREENALLS put in a thoroughly dominant performance in the Cheshire League top flight but were again left disappointed.

The opening exchanges saw Greenalls push the visitors onto their backfoot, with Linotype struggling to get out of their half.

Lee Vaughan missed a golden opportunity to open the scoring, making a darting run off the right hand side and when one-on-one his weak effort was smothered by Killingbeck in the Linotype goal.

Further great chances fell to Neil Sutch, Robbie Hanley and Lee Hughes, who all fluffed their lines.

With their only attack of the half, Linotype took the lead on 28 minutes. A hopeful ball from the right wad misjudged by Paul Dobson and the left winger picked it up 12 yards out, making no mistake as he swept the ball nearly past Craig Clare.

Further chances for Greenalls followed and it was Vaughan who drew the home side level. A neat lob over the right full back  released Chris Rogers, whose inch perfect cross found Vaughan to stab home first time.

The second half looked thoroughly comfortable for Greenalls who, after more missed chances, took the lead on 64 minutes.

Captain Mark Hughes rattled the crossbar from all of 30 yards, but Hanley was on hand to stroke the rebound home.

Despite Greenalls superiority, Linotype drew level again. Raul Correia danced through two challenges and crashed home past the helpless Clare with 17 minutes left.

Greenalls seemed to lose the shape in midfield towards the latter stages and struggled to create any real chances but by then, the game should have been out of sight.

Manager Dave Bush said: "Again, we were great, all over the pitch, but the way we allowed them to stay in the game was quite alarming.

"We created lots and lots of chances against what must be said are an inferior side. If we are to have any kind of success we need to turn those chances into goals."
