Garswood United Reserves 1 Eagle Sports Reserves 0
EAGLE Sports Reserves went down to a deflected second half goal in a game which they could easily have snatched a point.
Against a strong wind in the first half, Eagle worked hard and defended excellently, going in at 0-0 at half time, following a couple of excellent saves from stand in goalkeeper-manager Paul Derbyshire.
The home side took the lead around the hour mark when the Garswood striker was allowed to unleash a shot which deflected off an Eagle defender, leaving Derbyshire wrong footed.
The visitors could have equalised when Rob Hall was inches from finishing a Danny Burthem cross, following good skill by the forward out wide to beat his defender.
Eagle were then reduced to ten men when Danny Nixon was sent off for a second bookable offence around 15 minutes from time.
The away side battled on but were unable to break down a solid Garswood defence, resulting in a third straight away defeat for Derbyshire’s side.
Eagle Derbyshire, S Robinson, R Bishop, Gibson, Nixon, Heywood, G Williams (c), Muttock, Hall, Burthem, Dawson. Subs J Robinson.
