SHAUN Reid responded to Warrington Town’s failure to score for a second successive Saturday by bringing in a forward.

The Yellows played out a goalless home draw with Farsley on Saturday, having been held at Cammell Laird a week previous.

The draws leave Town six points behind league leaders Curzon Ashton, who have two games in hand.

But Reid hopes the arrival of 28-year-old Shaun Tuck from Vauxhall Motors, after spells at Witton Albion and Skelmersdale United this term, will freshen up Town’s attacking options.

“He was the first player I tried to sign when I arrived at the club,” said Reid. “But he was already on his way to Witton, which I can understand.

“He’s renowned for getting 30 goals a season; he’s at a prime age and will freshen things up.”

Tuck arrives from Skrill North outfit Vauxhall carrying an injury, but Reid is confident he will return in time to aid Town’s promotion bid.

“I was really concerned about us conceding goals but we have gone the other way now and are missing chances,” he added. “But Shaun’s a proven goalscorer.

“I’ll know more on the injury after training, but if he’s not ready for Saturday then hopefully he’ll be in the squad for the New Mills game on Monday.”

Keeper Josh Ollerenshaw earned his clean sheet against Farsley, saving first from Paddy Miller on the half hour and then Robbie O’Brien moments later.

Ash Ruane replaced striker Ciaran Kilheeney at the break, but the visitors nearly broke the deadlock when Lee Ellington headed against the bar.

Ruane then combined with Richard Wright to find Ben Wharton, but he sliced over.

Ollerenshaw saved again from a Miller free kick on 70 minutes and from the corner Ruane released Metcalfe, who beat two players but was denied by Farsley stopper Tom Morgan.

Reid added: “We have been magnificent the last two games and with the chances we missed we should have won both.

“We are still in there. It’s getting to the point where we have to be looking at play offs, but until it’s mathematically impossible we’ll keep chasing.”
