STRONG winds played their part in this stalemate between last year’s Cheshire Football League Division One top two, though the winds of fate did not blow too strongly in favour of one team or the other.

That said, Eagle took the lead only after a gust had caught Adam Coleman’s cross and wrong-footed Knutsford keeper Mark Higgs, who could only push the ball into his own net.

Knutsford had threatened from the off and it was only due to a fine double save from Eagle keeper Neil McDermott that the visitors were behind until the second half.

They arguably should have been further behind, Eagle captain Craig Hall wasting a glorious chance when directing a header straight at Higgs.

McDermott was proving tough to beat even after the break, but eventually Knutsford’s pressure told and a cross was headed home to ensure Knutsford a share of the spoils.

Eagle: McDermott, Coleman, Chinn, Hall(c), Cross, Burthem, Hope, Walker, Waldron, Ellis, Boardman. Subs: L.Roberts, Bruce, Hickman, Quirk, McAllister
