Warrington Town 7
Worksop Town 2
WARRINGTON Town’s youngsters stormed to the FA Youth Cup third qualifying round at the expense of Worksop Town on Monday.
Joe Rhodes’ double, plus further goals for Danny Bruce, Nick Chambers, Callum Wallace, Liam Turner and Ben Collins saw the Yellows progress to the next stage where they will host either Gresley or Mickleover Sports.
Those two were due to meet last night, Wednesday, after the Guardian went to press.
The hosts started well on Monday, Wallace slipping in Bruce to round the visitors’ keeper and score in the third minute.
Bruce turned provider soon afterwards, setting up Rhodes to double the lead before passing to Chambers who cut inside and finished on 37 minutes.
Danny Bluff was forced into a save immediately after the break, before Chambers’ cross was met by Wallace for Town’s fourth.
Worksop threatened a comeback after scoring two quick goals, but in the 78th minute Andy Williams’ free kick was flicked onto a post by Turner and helped in by Rhodes.
Turner lashed home minutes later before substitute Collins completed the rout with a superb individual effort.
