No repeat show in league clash

Crewe FC 4
Greenalls Padgate St Oswalds 1
GREENALLS Padgate St Oswalds could not repeat their cup antics of a week previous as Crewe FC came out victorious in the side’s Cheshire League top flight clash on Saturday.
A single Robbie Hanley strike failed to replicate the 4-2 cup success as Steve McNicholl scored twice for Crewe followed by goals from Anthony Tinsley and PJ Hudson.
The visitors suffered a terrible start at the Cumberland Arena when a penalty was awarded for handball against Neil Sutch, who was struck by the ball from close range. McNicholl converted from the spot.
However, Greenalls were level on 16 minutes when Chris Rogers stole in as Crewe keeper Wes Newton fumbled to square for Hanley to collect his fourth goal in three games.
Greenalls felt aggrieved after the interval when Adam Jones’ acrobatic clearance was collected by keeper Craig Clare, only for the referee to adjudge it a back pass.
McNicholl tucked away from the resulting indirect free kick.
The visitors found themselves three down minutes later when, having switched off defending a corner, Tinsley stooped unmarked to head home for Crewe.
Greenalls attempted to find a way back into the fixture, but Crewe compounded their day with a breakaway goal for Hudson in the dying minutes.
Greenalls: Craig Clare, Neil Sutch, Gareth Johns, Adam Jones, Jack Hynes, Danny Topping, Lee Hughes, Paul Benns, Robbie Hanley, Lee Vaughan, Chris Rogers. Subs: Mark Hughes, Mike Evans, Jonny Leatherbarrow.
