Rylands res 3
Burtonwood Albion 1
RYLANDS reserves recorded their first win in six matches to progress in the Liverpool County FA Junior Saturday Cup at the expense of Burtonwood Albion.
A double for Mike Sullivan, who also had a penalty saved, and a Kris Bell strike sent the Warrington outfit through after Alex Briscoe’s 30-year effort had temporarily hauled Albion level.
“We squeezed the play high up the pitch forcing Burtonwood to play long balls which is bread and butter for our boys at the back,” said Rylands boss Mark Pye afterwards.
“There were some great individual performances, and a definite move in the right direction as a team.”
They have been paired with Prescot Sun Inn in the second round, scheduled for Saturday, October 19, kick off 2pm.
