WARRINGTON Town sit level on points with Curzon Ashton at the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One North summit after easing to victory on Tuesday night.
Ben Wharton, Ciaran Kilheeney and Chris Gaghan got their names on the score-sheet as Yellows extended their winning sequence to six matches in all competitions.
Scott Metcalfe raced on to David Mannix’s pass in the opening minutes, but the new signing scuffed his lob wide.
Moments later, Town custodian Josh Cook failed to deal with a cross and was forced to save with his legs to deny Matty Kay.
The former Burnley stopper then launched himself to the right to save Daniel Wilkin’s header as the sides went in goalless at the break.
Warrington manager Shaun Reid introduced Gahgan at the interval and within three minutes the substitute started a move which saw Phil Davies and Kilheeney combine for Wharton to sweep home.
Town’s second followed on 52 minutes, Wharton collecting Peter Dogan’s drive to turn provider for Kilheeney.
Cook saved a Greg Johnstone header from the hosts’ final effort as Town guaranteed their fifth clean sheet in six games before Kilheeney charged down an attempted Brig clearance to allow Gahgan to drive in from the edge of the penalty area.
Town: Cook, Davies, Thompson, Dogan, McCarten, Robinson, Millington (Mooney), Mannix (Gahgan), Wharton (Newby), Kilheeney, Metcalfe. Subs not used: Dawson, Greenwood.
