Rylands boss praises reaction

RYLANDS overcame midweek disappointment and a brace of injuries to run out comfortable winners against Stockport-based outfit Linotype Cheadle at Gorsey Lane.
Defeat to Eagle failed to dampen their spirits and despite losing both Josh Green and Liam Walker to an ever-expanding injury list, manager Dave Parr was upbeat following the victory.
“I was pleased with the reaction from the players after playing well in midweek without any reward,” he said.
“We created a lot of good chances without finishing them, but our all-round play was lively and inventive.
“We are having a bad run with injuries, but they are part and parcel of the game and it gives people an opportunity to make a claim for a regular place.”
Rylands wasted no time in crafting the first chance, Ben Slater evading the keeper only to see his angled drive come back off the post.
Scott Teb’s header broke the deadlock on 10 minutes, but though Parr’s men were dominating they failed to make their chances count.
Jim Daniels’ shot was cleared off the line, before Walker’s one-on-one resulted in a last-ditch save.
It was to be Walkers’ last act before leaving the field with an ankle injury and once Josh Green had suffered the same fate, Rylands were called to make two substitute changes at the break.
Luckily, the substitutions did little to prevent the Rylands onslaught and they sealed their well-deserved win with further goals from Liam Hayes and Daniels.
Rylands: Andy Moor, Liam Warburton, Josh Green (Mike Sullivan 40mins), Adam Prescott, Scott Tebb, Alex Lowe, Chris Brown, Liam Hayes, Ben Slater, Liam Walker (Lee Dermody 45mins), Jim Daniels (Smith 76mins).
