EAGLE Sports slipped to their first Cheshire League Division One defeat of the campaign at home to Billinge on Saturday.
Chad Whyte rose highest in the Eagle box to head past Neil McDermott from a second half corner for the winner.
Eagle pushed for a late equaliser and saw Ged McAllister’s effort chalked off for a foul on the keeper.
Boss Rob Hope was disappointed with his side’s lacklustre performance after allowing the visitors to create a number of good goalscoring chances.
Sports sit fifth in Division One after four wins from their opening seven games, including a 1-0 derby victory against Rylands in midweek.
Eagle made the most of their first-half pressure to take the lead after 25 minutes when Lee Boardman netted.
Rylands failed to find a way past a stubborn Eagle defence and keeper Simon Perry, who pulled off a string of fine saves after the interval.
Eagle: Perry, R. Bishop, Coleman, Hall, Cross, Hickman, Hope, C. Bishop, Ellis, McAllister, Boardman. Subs: Nixon, Chinn, Quirk.

THREE early goals at Pilkington Reserves sunk Eagle Sports Reserves in St Helens.
The hosts took the lead from the spot after two minutes before Eagle fell further behind as a free kick looped over keeper Mark Stewart.
Pilkington wrapped up the victory with a third from an under-hit backpass.
It came as a second defeat in a row for Eagle’s reserves after they were beaten 2-1 in a derby loss at Grappenhall Sports in midweek.
The home side opened the scoring following a long ball into the box, Stewart saving only for the ball to fall for a Grappenhall player to smash home.
James Maher went close for Eagle before half time, but Grappenhall increased their lead after the break after the despairing Stewart made a save only for an opposition player to react quickest.
Eagle found a way back into the game through Andrew Fletcher as he hammered home after good work from Lewis Cardwell and Michael Doodson.
Eagle Reserves: Stewart, Robinson, Heywood, Gibson, Cardwell, L Roberts, Muttock, Maher, Fletcher, Dawson, Wearing. Subs: Derbyshire, Doodson, Thomas, Parker, Stephenson.
