Rylands 7 Middlewich 1
RYLANDS recorded their second successive Cheshire league home victory of the week with an emphatic second half performance against a hapless Middlewich Town at Gorsey Lane.
A hat-trick from new signing Ben Slater, together with two each from Jay Waldron and Liam Walker, ensured they followed up their 1-0 win over Styal in fine fashion.
Manager Dave Parr said: “Our play was quite slick at times and we had good options and movement in forward positions.
“It is very early days and there will be more difficult challenges ahead, but we have a very strong group here now at the club who are all pushing hard for places.”
The final result looked incredibly unlikely after the opening stages, when keeper Andy Moor and defensive lynchpin Jon Shakeshaft combined to hand the visitors the lead with an own goal.
That set the tone for a shaky first half, though they did start getting back on top as the half wore on before finally dragging themselves level after Slater opened his account five minutes before the break.
That goal opened the floodgates for Rylands, who took the lead moments later through Waldron and scored regular goals throughout a dominant second-half performance.
