CROSFIELDS JFC are on their way to Wembley after being named winner of the prestigious Charter Standard Community Club of the Year Award.
The Warrington club will attend the national ceremony for the 2013 Awards on Sunday in front of legends Sir Geoff Hurst, Pat Jennings and FA Director of Football Development Sir Trevor Brooking.
The FA and McDonald’s Community Awards will be presented ahead of this year’s Community Shield between Premier League winners Manchester United and FA Cup holders Wigan Athletic.
World Cup winner and McDonald’s Director of Football Hurst was part of the national judging panel.
“Crosfields FC embodies the spirit of a grassroots football club,” he said. “The emphasis that Crosfields JFC put on coaching is an outstanding way to improve their players.
“It is a testament to their work that they have been able to retrain a core group who represent the club.
“I’m looking forward to meeting Crosfields JFC to pass on my congratulations on winning the award!”
Crosfields has a flourishing girls’ football section which has been running for more than 10 years and they now offer football to teams across 11 age groups as well as branching out to disability football.
A number of players represent the county team and Crosfields have been invited to appear in the Sky Sports Soccer Saturday Cup as well as to Poland for a friendly fixture by The Polish FA.
