Warrington teams struggle in Cheshire Football League
SCOTT Tebb's consolation goal did little to spare Rylands' blushes after they lost 3-1 to Middlewich Town in Division One of the Cheshire Football League.
In fact, Warrington's teams struggled throughout the league structure, with both Moore United and Daten suffering defeats in Division Two.
Rudheath Social bounced back from their Division Two cup final defeat to beat Moore 4-1 away from home, Sam Didsbury, Stu Tulloch and brothers Gary and Jack Bryning all scored in a victory that keeps their title hopes burning strong.
Daten suffered a narrow 4-3 loss to Barnton, but that was nothing compared to the pain felt by their reserve team, who were at the wrong end on an 11-goal drubbing in the Reserve Division.
Eagle Sports reserves were ruthless in dishing out that heavy defeat, in which the impressive Josh Purcell found the net five times and braces from Danny Nixon and Owen Ellis complimenting goals from Gareth Williams and Dan Burthem.
The result puts Eagle's scoring tally up to 20 in two games and moves them six points behind second-place Linotype CHN with two games in hand.
Their first team may have lost, but Rylands reserves took maximum points in their local derby against Grappenhall Sports, beating their rivals 2-1.
Karl Taylor opened the scoring with a decent strike, before a thumping Dave Morley header sealed the victory.
