EAGLE Sports continued their defence of the Cheshire Football League’s JB Parker Cup by cruising into the final with a 3-0 defeat of Lostock Gralam.

An excellent brace from Mike Hickman and a decisive third goal from Jonathon Dawson cemented the away victory, which always looked secure after the visitors had taken a 2-0 lead after just half an hour.

Grappenhall Sports are staring Division One relegation in the face after suffering their 20th league defeat of the season, this time against runaway leaders Knutsford.

Having secured only five points throughout a miserable season, Grappers’ 2-0 defeat means they are now 14 points from safety with seven games remaining.

Greenalls regretted their slow start against Middlewich Town, finding themselves 2-0 down after 23 minutes thanks to goals from Craig Millington and Matthew Herd.

Ben Slater pulled one back for Greenalls when he headed home a corner 10 minutes later, but a goalless second half ended PSO’s hopes of rescuing a point.

Greenalls’ next test comes in the form of Rainhill, who pose the final hurdle on PSO’s road to the Guardian Cup Final. There were defeats for Moore United and Daten in Division Two, as they were beaten 3-0 by Poynton and 4-1 by Rudheath Social respectively.

Linotype CHN eradicated Greenalls PSO’s lead at the top of the Reserve Division courtesy of a 6-2 thumping.

Greenalls looked the stronger side in the first half with Rob Clarke controlling their defence, while Andrew Moore and Craig Hoyland gave them a 2-1 advantage at half time.

It all went wrong after the break, as Linotype’s experienced substitutes came on to wreak havoc in a one-sided second half.

Eagle Sports took no prisoners as they stormed back into third spot with a 10-2 annihilation of Golborne Sports.

Josh Purcell notched up an impressive five-goal haul, with captain James Maher and Liam Turner adding two each and the final goal coming from Daniel Burthem.

Dominic Chambers, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Scott Swales earned Daten a point as they matched Barnton goals from Nathan Sherrard, two, and Ray McDonald in a 3-3 draw.

A brace from Luke Walker and a single goal from Connor Glass was enough to help Styal through to the final of the Reserve Division Cup, beating Rylands 3-1.
