CHRIS Latham’s first goal for Greenalls Padgate St Oswalds helped them record their third win on the bounce to move up to eighth in the Cheshire Football Division One table.
PSO had to scrap their way back from a deficit to earn their victory, showing a reslience that delighted boss Dave Bush.
“I’m really happy for the players after the last three games,” he said.
“It’s a stark contrast to the poor run of form we were suffering when we were in front in many games and letting those leads slip. “After an awful first half we showed great character and were worthy of the 3-1 scoreline in the end.”
The hosts made the most of Greenall’s poor start on 20 minutes, when Nathan Ogden headed home Danny Murphy’s corner to take a deserved lead into the break.
But it was a different PSO side that emerged after the restart, and when Chris Latham’s cross bounced in off the post to drag them level, the match-winners from Rob Hanley and Ben Slater always looked likely to follow.
Grappenhall Sports’ miserable season continued as they fell to their 19th defeat of the season against third-place Garswood.
Despite scoring a screamer to draw level in the first half, Garswood struck after the break to ensure the division’s bottom club remain on just five points for the season.
Things look similarly grim for Daten in Division Two, as despite Gareth Finch’s goal they lost 2-1 away to Congleton Vale to stay four points adrift at the foot of the league.
Meanwhile, goals from Matt Mountney and Martyn Simcock helped Egerton to a 2-1 win at Moore United.
Greenalls’ second string also scored three in the Reserve Division, but this was only enough to earn them a point against Pilkington.
An improved second half showing saw PSO score through Neil Glendinning and Jon Leatherbarrow to reduce the deficit, before Andy Moore struck gold in the 89th minute to earn Greenalls a point.
Garswood United won 2-0 at Grappenhall Sports, while Sam Stanier and Adam Senior both bagged in the second half to earn Daten a 2-0 win at home against Golborne Sports.
Eagle Sports ran out as 5-1 winners at home against Gamesley.
