GREENALLS Padgate St Oswalds overcame spirited ‘derby’ opponents Orford FC to forge a path into the semi final of the Guardian Cup.

PSO took the lead on 22 minutes when Danny Topping’s corner was parried by keeper Connor Yarwood and Jon Shakeshaft took advantage to slam home from short range.

Missed chances for Mike Evans and Lee Deakin ensured Orford were kept in touch until the half hour, when they hit back with a sweet 20-yard strike from Liam McLoughlin to draw level.

Orford were continually playing catch-up with their higher league opposition, falling behind to a Paul Dobson header before eventually dragging themselves level again after Stuart Smith’s looping header.

But PSO’s superiority eventually paid off on 58 minutes, with a scrappy goalmouth scramble converted by Ben Slater earning Greenalls a final four fixture against St Helens-based Rainhill Town.
