Kyle Adams bowls to Timperley
WARRINGTON sealed an emphatic eight-wicket victory against Timperley in Cheshire County Cricket League Division Two thanks to the excellent spell of 6 for 24 from M Adams.
He was helped in the bowling attack by the miserly stints from K Adams and S Hewitt, who helped to restrict Timperley to an attainable target of 107.
In reply, Warrington raced away to a quick start through R Heaney’s 37, before the partnership of C Kirby, 34 not out, and P Farrar, 29 not out, sealed the emphatic victory with more than 30 overs to spare.
The seconds enjoyed similar joy on the road in Timperley, inviting the hosts to open the batting and skittling them all out for 143 thanks to Chai Gadepalli’s 3 for 29 and good spells from Nick Houghton, 2 for 28, and debutant Will Fleetwood, 2 for 34.
Warrington got off to a solid start, with all five of the top order contributing to the victory as both openers Tim Rothwell and Tom Corroboy hit 27 before Ric Taylor, 35 not out, and Mal Gwatkin, 24 not out, sealed Warrington’s seven-wicket victory.
The thirds did not do as well, losing by 98 runs as they were comprehensively out-batted by visitors Cheadle Hulme.
Warrington’s bowlers were put to the sword as Cheadle cruised to 216 for 9, with the only bowlers to emerge with any credit being 14-year-old Ben McCarthy, 3 for 38, and Dave Lee, 2 for 15.
The second innings proved to be a similar tale, with Warrington being dismissed for 118. Only Wes Charlton, 28, Ben McCarthy, 18, and Jimmy Waldran, 16, reached double figures.
