Rylands narrowly avoid relegation despite heavy loss

RYLANDS managed to avoid Cheshire Cricket Alliance Division One relegation despite falling to a six-wicket defeat to Old Parkonians.

Parkonians were prolific with the bat, racking up 199 for 4 from their 38 overs to set Rylands a tricky task.

The hosts were no match for it, falling for 152 in reply but securing enough bonus points to avoid dropping to Division Two.

Though the seconds were never in danger of relegation from Division Four, they still managed a fine performance against Old Parkonian's seconds to force a draw.

They restricted the visitors to 181 for 5 with Matt Brady, 2 for 29, and Mark Green, 2 for 36, the pick of the bowlers, but only managed 151 for 7 for the draw as Phil Mansfield finished with 35.
