GRAPPENHALL are still looking for their first win of the season.

They host Alderley Edge, also without a win, on Saturday after being well beaten at Oulton Park at the weekend.

Grappers, bottom of th ECB Prmier Division, posted 187-9 off their 55 overs thanks largely to youngster Arthur Pennington and all rounder Gaz Burns with 56 and 47 respectively, helping the side recover from 41-5.

The bowlers picked up a couple of early wickets reducing Oulton to 41-2 but a strong mid-innings partnership featuring their leading batsman took the game away from Grappers.

Oulton won with five overs to spare.

The seconds continued their excellent start to the campaign as they beat Oulton Park by 61 runs.

A good batting performance allowed Grappers to assemble 184-7 off their 50 overs, with every player chipping in.

In reply, Oulton Park were rolled out for 123 with plenty of time to spare.

Ross Arrowsmith, Ben Cagna, Will Metcalfe and Matt Titchard each picked up two wickets apiece.

The thirds’ league season started on Saturday with Grappers achieving an impressive 170-run success against Hyde.

They dominated from start to finish.

Grappers posted a mammoth 27-5 off their 45 overs, with Richard Holden falling just short of his century as he was caught for an excellent 96.

Debutant Steve Dixon added an impressive 66 runs, while Josh Hayes and David Seed both chipped in.

Hyde never set out to chase down the target and despite the loss of three early wickets they dug in.

Former captain David Seed took an important wicket to give Grappers hope and when Neil Titchard came into the attack he picked up three quick scalps to wrap the game up.
