APPLETON’S men’s first team recorded a 76-run win as they finally got their season started at Lyons Lane.

Tom Lomas hit 47 and Lee Stoll, 40, as the home side ran up 184-8 off their 45 overs against Aston in Uk Fast Cheshire Cricket League Division Three.

Vice-captain Martin Cooper than took 3-15 as Aston were dismissed for 108.

The team’s two previous fixtures were rained off.

Opener Bob McDonald continued his fine run of form striking 115 as the seconds declared on 225-4 against Oxton#s thirds.

Unfortunately, the bowlers could not get through Oxton’s batting and the game was drawn.

The thirds suffered a four-wicket defeat at Cheadle Hulme Ladybridge’s seconds.

Paul White’s 44 helped the away side to 97 all out and despite some wobbles, the hosts knocked off the runs for the loss of six wickets.

The fourths lost their derby game to Warrington’s thirds at Grange Sports Club. After finishing their 45 overs on 121-9, they could only take one wicket in defeat.
