APPLETON Tigers racked up a third straight win in the Cheshire Women’s Cricket League on Saturday.

The platform at Oxton was laid by the batting line-up.

They made hay in the sunshine as they assembled 255-4.

Holly McCurrie, Camille Wood and Liv Horsfield batted well in partnerships with Emma Barlow, who reached her century by taking good advantage of a fast outfield.

Fourteen-year-old Georgia Heath became the Tigers’ youngest half-century maker, finishing on 57 not out, as she and Annie Rashid smashed the ball about to secure Appleton’s commanding total.

Sami Fowler and Rashid bowled excellently in reply and each picked up wickets as they restricted Oxton to just 106-5.

This backs up the previous week’s effort when Tigers edged home by one wicket against Chester Boughton Hall.

Captain Nat Long was the key performer, taking 4-7 with the ball before keeping her nerve to hit the winning runs with the bat with just three balls to spare.
