WITH the first-team game falling victim to the weather, Warrington Cricket Club’s seconds almost capitalised on their chance in the spotlight.
However, despite a superb bowling fightback, they were beaten by two wickets at Upton.
Batting first, openers Shivas Joghi and Aaron Soni took Warrington to 30-0 in a solid start, but that was followed by a total collapse and they were dismissed for just 78.
Soni then took 3-17 as the bowlers fought back, with Umer Zeb (1-27) and Chai Gadpalli (2-7) helping out before Upton edged home.
The fourths’ game at Rostherne featured an excellent spell of bowling from Aamir Rashid, who claimed 7-25 with his off-spin to bowl the hosts out for just 136.
However, with conditions getting trickier, the visitors could only reach 89-5 in reply so settled for a draw.
