WARRINGTON slipped into the relegation zone in Cheshire County League Division One after a batting nightmare against Bollington.

After losing the toss, the hosts were asked to bat first on a damp and difficult Walton Lea wicket and were soon in trouble on 36-4.

Liam Heaphy, 26, and Johan Els, 20, staged a brief recovery but Warrington were bowled out for just 92.

However, their bowlers got off to the perfect start by reducing Bollington to 20-4 in reply as Ashley Scholes, 3-26, ripped through their top order with Els taking the other wicket.

The visitors brushed off their bad start, however, and cruised to a six-wicket victory.

Warrington’s seconds had better luck as they swept to a 139-run hammering of Brooklands.

Harley Barrett led the way for Warrington as they batted first, hitting 65 as they closed on 195-6, with James Lewis weighing in with 59.

The bowlers then laid waste to the hosts’ batting line-up, sharing the wickets around to dismiss Brooklands for just 56 in response.

Simon Hewitt and Phil Whelan took three wickets each, with Chia Gadepalli taking 2-12 from a mean nine-over spell.

Bowling also held the key to victory for the thirds as they dismissed Bunbury for just 78, with Archie Kellett and Vikram Palanisamy taking three wickets each.

Kellett then led the way with the bat as his unbeaten knock of 50 helped Warrington to an eight-wicket victory.

The fourths saw their clash at Timperley abandoned due to rain after the hosts had posted 206-2, with Jon Burgess taking both wickets for Warrington.

On Saturday, the firsts travel to Oulton Park while the seconds host their counterparts from the same club.

The thirds face neighbours Appleton and the fourths travel to Styal.
