PREPARATIONS for the new season are about to get underway for both of Warrington’s Cheshire County Cricket League teams.

With the new campaign starting at the end of April, Grappenhall and Warrington are planning for life in separate divisions and both now know their first opponents of the new year.

Grappers, who will be led once again by Adam Roylance in 2017, will play in the ECB Premier Division after their promotion from Division One, where Warrington will continue this season having avoided relegation last time out.

Roylance’s side have recruited local lads Adam Green and Luke McCoy from Warrington and Widnes respectively but are still looking for an overseas addition to their squad.

Jack Critchley will once again lead the club’s second team, while David Seed will continue as captain of the thirds.

Senior winter training begins on Monday, February 6, at Bridgewater High School at 8pm, with any new players welcome.

Grappers’ first test will be an away game at champions Alderley Edge on Saturday, April 22.

Warrington will get their Division One campaign underway at home to Macclesfield on the same day as they bid to make a bigger impact on Division One.

In preparation for the new season, winter nets begin on Sunday, February 12, at Bridgewater High School from 1pm - 2.30pm for six weeks.

Having recruited South African all-rounder Johan Els for the 2017 season, the club are actively looking to recruit further players to strengthen all four senior squads.
