APPLETON Tigers finished their season in fitting fashion with a 13-run victory over Oakmere on Sunday.

Batting first at Lyons Lane, the hosts made a poor start and looked in deep trouble when they slipped to 25-5.

Olivia Horsfield steadied herself then opened up to produce a career-best knock of 45 not out to help the Tigers to a score of 94 all out.

The hosts got off to a great start with the ball as Annie Rashid took two early wickets to set the tone.

Horsfield also chipped in with 3-14, but Oakmere continued to creep towards their target before Jess Lewis took two late wickets to dismiss the visitors for 81.

Having already secured second place, it means Appleton have finished in the top two of the Cheshire Women’s League Division One for the seventh year in a row.
