APPLETON Tigers hit top form with three wins in four days to secure a place in the Cheshire Women’s League T20 final.

Bowling first at Ashton-on-Mersey on Thursday, Appleton skipper Nat Long took two wickets to help restrict their hosts to 59-6 from their allotted overs.

This made the Tigers favourites and they set off in pursuit of their victory target, with Emma Barlow and Holly McCurrie getting them off to a great start before an incredible collapse put them in danger of losing the game.

However, Long hit the winning boundary to get them over the line with just one wicket in hand.

The following day, they visited Didsbury and it resulted in a much improved batting display as they notched up 105-6 from their 20 overs, with Barlow (28 retired) and McCurrie (23) leading the way once again.

With the ball, there were two wickets each for Long, Sami Fowler and Annie Rashid as the hosts were limited to 54-8 to finish well short of their target.

The two sides met again on Sunday, this time in the league at Lyons Lane, and Barlow was again in stellar form with the bat as she hit an unbeaten 82 to help her side to 155-6 from their 40 overs.

Rashid and Jackson again took two wickets each as the Appleton attack stifled the visitors to restrict them to 117-6 in reply.

The Tigers now face Chester Boughton Hall in the T20 final at Timperley on Sunday.
