SAM Guest was Grappenhall’s star turn on Saturday as they continued a quest for promotion to the Cheshire County League’s top flight by beating Bollington.

He returned figures of 7-32 from 15 overs as the men from Broad Lane knocked over their guests for 73 after winning the toss.

The fast bowler sent back three batsmen in the space of five deliveries, and was denied a hat-trick only after a strong LBW appeal.

Adam Roylance (53no) was in no mood to hang around after tea, steering the hosts to their target in 16 overs.

They sit second in Division One, 25 points clear of Oulton Park with seven games left.

Teenage duo Arran McCabe and Josh Hayes inspired Grappenhall’s seconds to sweep aside Stockport, taking three wickets each to dismiss their opponents for 83.

Hayes (36no) was in fine form at the crease too, guiding Grappers to victory at 87-5.

Grappenhall’s thirds beat their Stockport counterparts by three wickets on Sunday afternoon, when Ben Bravington took 4-19 in the visitors’ 172-9.

Opener Dave Tully (77) and Matt Titchard (46no) starred in their side’s winning reply.
