WARRINGTON fell to a heavy eight-wicket defeat by Sale on Saturday as their batting unit struggled on the road.

After being put into bat by their hosts, Huw Stone top scored with 40 but found support hard to come by as the Sale bowlers dominated.

Richard Heaney’s side were bowled out for just 121, leaving their bowlers with an uphill task to save the game.

Brad McIntosh and James Rudd took a wicket each, but Sale reached their target comfortably to record a convincing win.

The seconds were also beaten at home by the same opponents, but the five-wicket margin of defeat was much tighter.

Batting first, James Sharrock hit 55 and was well supported by Arron Soni’s 37 as Warrington recovered from a poor start but could only managed 155 all out.

Soni and Brad Roden took two wickets each, but Sale reached their target with just two overs to spare.

Meanwhile, the thirds and fourths rounded off a miserable weekend for Warrington as they were beaten by Portsunlight and Chester Boughton Hall respectively.

The firsts welcome Cheadle Hulme on Saturday, while the seconds travel to the same opposition and the thirds face Upton, with the fourths hosting Appleton in a local derby.

GLAZEBURY were left frustrated by the weather for the second consecutive week as their Cheshire Cricket Alliance Division One clash with leaders Cholmondley was cancelled.

They will hope to return to action as they travel to Maritime on Saturday.
