WARRINGTON’S recent unbeaten run was brought to an end on Saturday as they lost by 57 runs at Oulton Park.

Skipper Richard Heaney won the toss and invited the hosts to bat, with Oulton Park openers Martin East and Daniel Leech successfully seeing off the Warrington opening bowlers in a first-wicket partnership of 39.

However, the off spin of Brad McIntosh brought the visitors back into the game with impressive figures of 5-39.

McIntosh helped restrict Oulton Park to 163 all out, with Leech top scoring with 44 for the hosts.

Perhaps surprisingly, the hosts opened the bowling with the off spin of Samuel Blandford, but it proved to be an inspired decision.

Liam Heaphy made 23 while number 11 Scholes weighed in with 25, but Blandford’s remarkable 8-48 helped dismiss Warrington for 106.

The seconds’ game was much closer, but they were again on the wrong side of the result as Upton pinched an eight-run victory.

Chia Gadepalli led the way with 5-15 as Warrington bowled first and dismissed their visitors for 118.

However, despite Arron Soni scoring 31, the hosts fell just short as they were bowled out for 110.

The thirds fared better as they sealed a four-wicket win over hosts Wirral, with Rob Dempster and Vijay Doraisamy taking three wickets each to ensure the home side could only reach a total of 143, a target Warrington reached with relative ease.

The fourths suffered a batting horror show as they were dismissed for just 38 by Neston, with only Paul Dempster reaching double figures with 14.

The visitors secured victory in just five overs, despite a consolation wicket for Austin Carr.

Bragging rights will be at stake all weekend for the club as the firsts and seconds both take on their counterparts from local rivals Grappenhall on Saturday while the club’s thirds and fourths face each other.
