WARRINGTON endured a torrid week in the field, starting with a 93-run T20 hammering at Weaverham on Thursday.

The hosts racked up an almighty 229-1 from their 20 overs, led by Wilden Cornwall’s remarkable 155 not out from 62 balls.

Warrington could not get close in reply as they only managed 136-8.

They fared no better in the longer game on Saturday, losing by 54 runs at Bollington.

Having lost the toss, the hosts were invited to bat first but the Warrington bowlers found it difficult to stem the flow of runs.

Brad McIntosh took 4-61, but Bollington still amassed 226 and they made the perfect start to their defence by reducing Warrington to 21-3.

A partnership of 61 between Mal Agar, who eventually fell for 42, and Will Fleetwood steadied the ship before Fleetwood was dismissed for 55 to leave their chances looking slim.

Stone resisted with 55 but Warrington were bowled out for 172.

The weekend wasn’t to be without success as the seconds and thirds won their matches against Stockport and Aston respectively.

Playing at home, the seconds produced an excellent bowling display to dismiss their visitors for just 160, with Ryan Swart and Isaac Webster taking three scalps each.

Captain Simon Swain led the reply with a brilliant 67 at the top of the order, but no-one else in the top five reached double figures to ensure a nervy chase before Swart and Simon Hewitt edged them home by three wickets.

The thirds were able to secure an eight-wicket away win thanks in no small part to a fine all-round display from Vijay Doraisamy.

After spinning his way to figures of 5-27 with the ball to help dismiss Aston for just 135, Doraisamy then hit 77 with the bat to ensure Warrington cruised home.

The first team are at home to Weaverham on Saturday, while the seconds travel to Brooklands and the thirds host Chester Boughton Hall.
