GLAZEBURY scooped a much-needed victory as they beat Winsford by five wickets at Hurst Lane.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first, making a solid start and reaching 54 before they lost their first wicket.

However, the Glazebury bowlers took control from then on, with Dave Acton enjoying a particularly fruitful afternoon as he ripped through the Winsford middle order on the way to figures of 5-39.

Sam Stanier and Jack Warhurst also weighed in with two wickets each as Winsford were dismissed for just 147.

Glazebury lost opener Wayne Hargreaves for a duck, but the rest of the batters set about the task of chasing down the visitors’ low total calmly.

Ian Black top scored with an unbeaten 70 from just 45 balls as Glazebury won in fine style ahead of their trip to The Groves on Saturday.

The seconds were on the wrong end of a heavy defeat as they were thrashed by 119 runs at Kerridge.

Despite the efforts of Jordan Carroll, who took an impressive 5-71, Glazebury were forced to chase 244 for victory and they could only manage a meagre 124 all out.
