WARRINGTON’S batting unit let them down on Saturday as they were on the end of a seven-wicket home thrashing by Davenham.

Having lost the toss, the hosts were put into bat and the visiting bowlers set to work, quickly reducing Warrington to 4-3.

Brad McIntosh, who came in at number 9, top scored with 26 while the only others to make double figures were Will Fleetwood, who made 13, and Liam Heaphy, who fell for 10 as Warrington were blasted out for a dismal 67.

The Warrington bowlers tried their best to stem the flow of runs, but it was too much of a mountain to climb as Davenham cantered home in just over 22 overs.

The seconds fared little better as they lost to the same opponents by the same scoreline, although there was a little more batting resistance.

Having been asked to bat first, opener James Sharrock top scored with 34, while Paolo Manfredi weighed in with 26 but Warrington were bowled out for just 116.

Aaron Soni, Tom Corroboy and Harley Barratt took a wicket each with the ball, but Davenham won comfortably thanks to 54 from opener Chris Truelove.

The thirds and fourths completed a miserable weekend for the club as they lost to Neston and Aston respectively.

Having restricted Neston to 197 all out, the thirds were dismissed for just 81 in reply to seal a 116-run defeat, while the fourths fared even worse as they were bowled out for 78, with Aston cantering away to a ten-wicket win.

The first team have a T20 match at Weaverham tonight, Thursday before travelling to Bollington on Saturday.

On the same day, the seconds and fourths are both at home to Stockport and Chester Boughton Hall respectively, while the thirds travel to Aston.

GRAPPENHALL continued their good start to the season with a five-wicket win away to Oulton Park on Saturday.

Having elected to bowl first upon winning the toss, Grappers took wickets regularly to ensure their hosts did not accelerate away from them.

Only captain Patrick Roberts put up any resistance with an unbeaten 73 as Oulton Park finished on 176-8 from their 50 overs, with Sam Guest leading the bowling effort with 3-41 while Ryan Ninan and Gaz Burns took two scalps each.

After being reduced to 17-2 in reply, skipper Adam Roylance and Peter Barnes rebuilt with a partnership of 63.

Roylance eventually fell for 48 and Barnes went on to make 62 as Grappers won with just under four overs to spare.

The seconds were on the wrong side of the same scoreline as they were beaten at Upton, with Ian Wright’s 42 the highlight of a poor batting performance in which they were bowled out for just 136.

Arthur Pennington took 4-46 in reply, but Upton reached their target comfortably.

On Sunday, a superb bowling performance saw the thirds beat Stockport by 63 runs despite being bowled out for a relatively low 137.

However, Stanley Pennington and James Jenkinson took four wickets each to skittle the hosts for 74.

The first team visit Bowdon in the T20 tournament before hosting Sale on Saturday on the same day as the seconds face Sale away from home while the thirds entertain Toft on Sunday.
