APPLETON Tigers are back on top of Cheshire Women’s Cricket League Division One with a game in hand over nearest rivals Oakmere after a high-scoring game against Trafford.
A century partnership between youngsters Charlotte Cross, 27, and Sami Fowler with her career best 78 helped Appleton set a commanding total of 200 for 6 from their 40 overs.
Kathryn Jackson ripped out two of Trafford’s top three for just three runs to put Appleton on top, but they couldn’t find another breakthrough for more than 20 overs.
Annie Rashid was on great form with the ball, taking two wickets for just 17 runs from her eight overs, and Holly McCurrie was rewarded for her outstanding fielding with a crucial run out.
Trafford finished on 146 for 7.
