GRAPPENHALL'S trip away to fellow strugglers Cheadle resulted in the abandonment of the match after several interruptions to play, when parts of the outfield were waterlogged.
The resultant seven points apiece did not help the team`s fight for top flight survival, due to Neston unexpectedly winning at home to Chester and thus going above Grappenhall, who now sit in second place from the bottom of the table.
However five teams remain in a precarious position.
Put in to bat on a damp, seamy wicket, Jimmy McCoy once again looked in fine form, depositing the first ball he received over the square leg boundary and a number of other blistering shots before he was adjudged caught behind.
Adam Roylance and Albert Pennington batted resolutely to take the score to 62 for 1 off 16 overs, and it looked as though Grappers would make a decent total before the weather had the final word.
With six matches remaining there is everything to play for, with Bramhall at home Grappenhall's next fixture.
