WARRINGTON strengthened their Division Two title hopes with a one-wicket win at Alvanley on Saturday.

On a good wicket, Alvanley posted 215 for 9 with the Warrington attack bowling a disciplined line, as Nathan Green, 4 for 67, and Ashley Scholes, 2 for 52, set the tone.

Brad McIntosh, 3 for 78, removed the lower order.

After the loss of an early wicket, Tom Clutterbuck, 45, and Adam Green, 55, redressed the balance with a 95-run partnership .

A late order stand from Brad McIntosh, 27, and Nathan Green, 31 not out, saw the side home.

Warrington seconds won by 71 runs against Middlewich.

With all the batsmen in double figures with top scorers Simon Swain, 65, James Lewis, 43, and Joel Chaderton, 40, being the pick of the side enabled Warrington to close their innings on 230 for 7.

Skipper Simon Hewitt 5 for 34 lead from the front with support from Joel Chaderton 2 for 22 and Phil Whelan 2 for 32 had the home side all out for 159 to give Warrington a 71-run victory.

Warrington thirds won by seven wickets at Neston fourths.

Warrington's opening bowlers kept the pressure on the visiting team until Rishav Manta, 5 for 10, cleaned up Neston in only six overs to have them bowled out for 115.

Warrington had the second wicket partnership of 75 between Joe Quinn, 57 not out, and Alister Begg, 22, had them in sight of victory to give the home side a seven-wicket win.

The fourths beat Irby by four wickets.

The opening attack had the home side pegged down as they were only 14 off 12 overs On his return Rob Dempster, 4 for 24, collected the wickets he deserved to have Irby left with the modest total of 144 in their allotted overs.

The Warrington batsmen shared the runs with Dave Selvan, 30, Dave Lee, 23 not out, and Paul Dempster, 22, sharing the runs to give Warrington a well-deserved win by four wickets.
