WARRINGTON won by 105 runs at home to Bredbury to stay top of the Cheshire County Division Two on Saturday.

Warrington, put in to bat, enabled opener Mal Agar, 63, to lay the foundation of a good score teaming up with James Hughes, 58, in a fourth wicket stand of 66.

Will Fleetwood, 51, added another half century with Nathan Green, 28no, helping Warrington to declare on 237 in the 47 over.

Bredbury had no answer to the varied Warrington attack of Ashley Scholes, 4 for 29, Brad McIntosh, 4 for 35, and Chia Gadipalli, 2 for 22, as they were in deep trouble at 131 for 8 when rain stopped play.

The visitors were eventually able to resume play as Scholes removed the last wicket to give Warrington victory.

It was not such a successful afternoon for Warrington seconds, who lost by 101 runs at Oxton.

Oxton's batsmen dominated the game as they posted 221 for 5 with Sy Hewitt, 2 for 33, Risiv Manta and Phil Whelan, 1 for 54, tried to stop the flow of runs.

Warrington could not muster a strong reply with Ian Sleigh, 35, Brendon Morris, 20, and Hewitt, 16no, being the few batsmen to register a score as Warrington were bowled out for 120.

Warrington thirds suffered a defeat by six wickets against their Macclesfield counterparts.

With a solid start from openers Tim Rothwell, 29, and Vijay Doraisamy, 27, plus three other batsmen scoring in the 20s, Warrington were able to close on 205 for 9.

On Macclesfield's small ground this total was not difficult for the home side as a well crafted century from their opening bat put them in site of victory Alan Hitchmough, 2 for 51, Gary Musker, 1 for 29, and Nathan Jeffery, 1 for 43, were the only bowlers to trouble the home side.

Warrington fourth's match at Timperley ended in a draw when rain stopped play.

Timperley proved to be a strong bating side and, aided by some dropped catches, were able to declare on 216 for 8. Tom Corroboy, 3 for 18, Jack Street, 2 for 61, Dave Lee, 1 for 34, Harry Kellett, 1 for 11, and Dan Vernon, 1 and 43, were rewarded for efforts.

Warrington were always behind the clock against some accurate bowling with Harry Kellett, 46no, and Mans Naseem, 21no, being at the wicket as rain stopped play with the home side on 101 for 3.
