A YOUNG Appleton side chased down a target of 81 to win their latest Cheshire Women’s Cricket League match against Hawarden Park by seven wickets.
An excellent opening spell from Sami Fowler, 3 for 26, and Kathryn Jackson, 3 for 22, including three wickets in Jackson’s first over, meant Appleton were able to squeeze the Hawarden scoring with six consecutive maiden overs bowled by Charlotte Robinson and Olivia Horsfield.
Annie Rashid's 2 for 6 helped to finish off the Hawarden innings.
A solid partnership from Holly McCurrie, 20, and Sylvia Christelow, 19no, and some superb shots from Fowler in her 22no meant Appleton chased down their target with 15 overs to spare and remain top of Division One.
