WARRINGTON were beaten by Congleton in Cheshire County League Division Two after narrowly falling short in a dramatic chase.
Congleton had difficulty with the new-ball attack of Warrington's Kyle Adams, 4 for 54, and Ashley Scholes, 2 for 32, but managed to reach 180 for 7 at the close of their innings.
Andy Kirby, 33, led the chase for Warrington, who end the season at Alvanley on Saturday, but the game ended with Sam Pennington being run out six runs short.
Warrington seconds drew against Congleton after declaring on 269 for 8.
Charlie McElroy, 74, helped give Warrington a good total but Congleton held on in their innings to finish on 172 for 9.
