GLAZEBURY’S unbeaten record at Hurst Lane was broken in the last home game of the season by Appleton.

Batting first, Appleton declared on 196 for 9 with Tom Lomas striking 125, and opening partner Martin Cooper getting to 33 in the Cheshire Alliance Division One clash.

The next six batsmen were dismissed for ducks, with Kyle Keeble, 4 for 30, doing damage.

Dave Mason, 15, and Wayne Hargreaves, 14, got the reply started but from 44 for 1 the Cheshire Alliance Cup winners were dismissed for 100 in 34 overs.

Glazebury seconds produced a solid run chase to catch Rostherne’s 144 for 7 in the 22nd over, with help from Ian Black’s 85 after Paul Charlton's 4-34 was the highlight of a disciplined fielding performance.

This Saturday Glazebury conclude their Division One season with a trip to Wilmslow, while the seconds face the same club at Hurst Lane in Division Four.
