WARRINGTON were beaten by 93 runs at home to Weaverham in Cheshire County League Division Two on Saturday.

Weaverham made the most of a good wicket to post 250 for 6, despite Kyle Adams claiming four wickets – two of which came in successive deliveries.

Warrington struggled to match the required run rate, with middle-order batsman Brad McIntosh’s 34 being the highest for Warrington.

The tail end tried hard to hold on for the draw but were dismissed with three overs to go.

Warrington seconds restored some order when they beat Timperley by 21 runs in the second XI Division One.

Openers Simon Swain, 37, and Tusher Mahamberev, 36, set a good foundation with a stand of 81, before Jon Stoker’s 51 helped Warrington close their innings on 219 all out.

Skipper Sy Hewitt, 3-37, made an early breakthrough after the change-over but the home side’s middle order put up a fight.

Spin bowlers Nick Houghton, 2 for 35, and Rishav Manta, 2 for 61, were introduced to good effect to claim the victory for Warrington.

The thirds were beaten by six wickets at Neston after posting a target that proved too small to challenge the home batsmen.

Steve Roberts, 48, was Warrington’s highest run-scorer as they were limited to 177 for 6 on a small ground.

Mans Naseem, 2 for 35 and Alan Hitchmough, 1 for 35, claimed wickets for Warrington but the home side eased to a six-wicket victory.

Warrington fourths were the club’s best performers of the weekend courtesy of securing a nine-wicket victory over Irby fourths.

Dave Lee claimed five wickets for just 23 runs and helped bowl out the opposition for 95, before an opening stand of 68 between Harry Kellett, 38 not out, and Dave Lee, 21, put Warrington in sight of their target.

Les Connolly blasted a quick 20 not out to pass the Irby total in the 18th over.
