GRAPPENHALL recorded their second successive maximum 25-point haul with a crushing eight-wicket victory over Toft CC in the Cheshire County Cricket League ECB Premier Division at Broad Lane on Saturday.

Grappenhall raced to the target of 143 with 12 overs to spare with help from James McCoy’s impressive knock of 89 from just 73 balls.

The away side were put in to bat first after torrential rain in the morning had reduced the overs to 37 for each side.

Sam Guest picked up two early wickets and finished on 3 for 62.

Ian Barnes returned to the side to chip away at the middle order and claim 4 for 30 and restrict the visitors to 142 for 7 from their 37 overs.

Grappenhall’s opening batsmen Adam Roylance and McCoy set the aggressive tone for the remainder of the game when McCoy hit 13 off the first over and then proceeded to send the Toft attack to all ends of the ground, reaching his half century with a huge six.

Roylance fell for 33 with the score at 84 for 1 before McCoy kicked on to put an end to Toft’s misery with 12 overs remaining.
