UMPIRES rated Grappenhall’s pitch as the best in the Vivio Cheshire County League’s top tier this year.
Statistics drawn up from match officials’ reports rated the Broad Lane strip highest with an average mark of 18.27 out of 20.
The best outfield in the Premier Division though was at Oxton, with Grappers receiving the bottom mark after battling drainage problems.
Similar contrasts came on the field, with Grappenhall achieving the highest and lowest team totals in matches – 356 for 7 declared against Hyde and only 58 against Neston.
