RYLANDS 13-run win over relegation threatened neighbours Stretton halted their recent slump, but could not lift the hosts off the foot of the Cheshire Alliance Division One table.

Sean Peters, 58, and Pete Osmont, 39, top scored for the home side, as Andy Lowe, 20, and Matthew Clough, 16, contributed to a 175 all out total.

Stretton’s openers looked like keeping them in the hunt, before the introduction of quick bowler Mark Green, 6 for 48, including the final three wickets, helped skittle the visitors for 162 in 30 overs.

Rylands’ seconds travelled to Division Four strugglers Ellesmere Port and recorded a comfortable nine-wicket victory at Whitby Sports and Social Club.

Sujith Nair’s six-wicket haul helped the visitors dismiss their hosts for 160.

Rylands never looked troubled in chasing their required total, Andy Barker, 47, and Wes Jenkins’ magnificent 95 leading them to victory with nine wickets to spare.
