WARRINGTON put pressure on the Cheshire County Cricket League Division Two’s top sides with a convincing nine-wicket win against Stockport Georgians on Saturday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, the visitors were quickly all out for 93 as stand-in Warrington skipper Kyle Adams led from the front with 4 for 35.

Adams was well supported by Sy Hewitt, 2 for 15, as Sam Baxter followed up with 1 for 18, and Ashley Scholes 1 for 30.

Unbeaten scores of 39 for Chris Kirby and 40 for James Hughes sandwiched opener James Rudd’s four runs as the hosts made the required total in the 29th over.

Warrington face league-leaders Timperley on Saturday.

An impressive opening spell from teenager Isaac Webster helped secure a six-wicket win for Warrington’s seconds at home to Oxton.

Webster took 3 for 42 before Nick Houghton was introduced, the spin bowler dismantling the hosts on 149 with 5 for 28, Ryan Swart and Brendan Morris adding one apiece.

Craig Vansteenwinckel headed Warrington’s charge with 55, before Swart’s unbeaten 30 and Morris’ 31 not out saw the hosts sail home to a six-wicket victory.

The third team took revenge for defeat at Upton, skittling the visitors for 124 on the way to a 60-run victory.

Dave Selvan, 38, Aaron Chaderton, 37, Billy Gilbert, 26, and Ben McCarthy, 25, proved the leading scorers as Warrington closed their innings on 184 for 8.

The hosts’ bowlers then took control with early wickets from Gilbert, 3 for 24, and McCarthy, 1 for 18.

The introduction of spin bowlers Alan Hitchmough, 3 for 48, and Rishav Manta, 2 for 20, dismissed the visitors 60 runs short of their target.

Warrington’s fourth side failed to make it a clean sweep, however, crumbling to a nine-wicket away defeat to Timperley’s thirds.

The visitors set 181 for 9 to take maximum batting points after top scores from Dom Hastings, 63, Dave Lee, 34, and Arshan Dadrualla, 24.

But with Mans Naseem, 1 for 30, the only wicket-taker for the visitors, Timperley cruised to their target of 183 in the 28th over.
