GLAZEBURY lost by 42 runs at Wilmslow Wayfarers in Division One of the Cheshire Cricket Alliance.

Wayfarers made 194 all out in 36 overs, with Chris Ayre, 5 for 41, and Tom Wilkinson, 3 for 40, having a decent day with the ball.

Despite the early loss of Dean Lord, the visitors seemed to be faring well in their run chase.

They reached 83 for 1, with Dave Acton, 46, and Andy Calvert, 20, adding 77 for the second wicket.

However, once that stand was broken there were two more quick wickets and despite solid middle-order efforts from Dave Mason and Jack Warhurst, the visitors were all out for 150.

Glazebury’s second XI made it three wins in four outings in Division Four as they took maximum points from in the reverse fixture with Wayfarers.

Skipper Sean Caine’s 4 for 33 was backed by three wickets each from Paul Charlton and Adam Stevenson as Wayfarers were dismissed for 161.

At 66 for 5 in reply, Glazebury got back in it with 49 between Wayne Hargreaves and the returning Julian May.

Then Caine provided the support necessary for opener Hargreaves to win the game with an excellent unbeaten 74.

The Hurst Lane side’s 162 for 7 sealed victory by three wickets.
