Red letter day for Lymm Angling Club's Gary Jones

JAMES Leach had a 24-hour session on Belmont Pool and landed an 18lb 0oz 0dr mirror carp.

It was his first of 2012 after fishing boilie with few offerings in a small PVA bag.

The club’s stretch of the Severn at Atcham gave Gary Jones a red letter day to remember.

He finished his session with five barbel and an excellent chub of 4-11-0. The biggest barbel was a stunner of 8-0-0.

A member fishing the club stretch at Rossall had a cracking chub of 5-9-0 on his third ‘last cast’ after having earlier had four good wrap rounds from the fish without making contact. Worm was the bait that did the trick.

The next work party dates are March 17, 25 and April 15.

Any members wishing to attend a work party shouldn’t forget that they will need to give at least a week’s notice and can do so by calling estates on 07432 874977 or alternatively by emailing estates@lymmanglersclub.com. You should provide your name, contact number, membership number and the work party you wish to attend.

The club also have an active netting team and members looking to join should do so by logging on to the club’s forum where they will find all the details.

Registration has opened for the introduction to angling course as part of 2012 spring series.

This is a four-session beginner’s course for boys and girls aged eight to 16 years.

There are two groups each session and participants must be able to attend all four sessions.

All events are led by qualified and licensed angling coaches.

The final two matches for the winter series will be held at Milton Brook on Sunday, March 18 and at Micklewrights Pool on Sunday, March 25.

This year’s annual meeting will be held at Rudheath Social Club on Monday, March 26, at 8pm.

Members should note that all nominations for 2012/13 have to be received by 8pm on Monday. The club’s address is PO Box 499, Sale, M33 0DZ.

Those wishing to attend the annual meeting will need their 2012 membership card for admission. Green 2011 cards will not be accepted. Be careful to observe traffic/ parking laws in the vicinity of Rudheath Club.
