Burtonwood Bridge 12 Woolston Rovers A 22

IN a hard-fought ‘derby’ clash at Fir Tree Lane, Woolston Rovers A continued their unbeaten start to the North West Men’s League Division Three season.

They edged out neighbours Burtonwood Bridge, who took the lead through a Ryan Farnan try converted by Greg Peters.

Liam Sullivan equalised for Rovers by crossing and converting himself, but Bridge quickly retook the lead as Aidan Doyle scored, with Peters’ conversion taking the half-time score to 12-6 in the hosts’ favour.

However, the visitors roared back in the second half to claim a valuable victory as Callum Moore, Harry Files and Danny Griffiths crossed, with Sullivan converting the latter two tries.

Rovers A are without a game on Saturday, but Bridge will aim to recover when they visit Westhoughton Lions, kick off 2.30pm.

The Woolston first team are back in action at the same time when they travel to Gateshead Storm in National Conference League Division Three.
