Barrow Island 0 Woolston Rovers 60

A FINE display saw Woolston run 11 tries past Barrow Island to record their seventh victory in eight games.

John Fieldhouse’s side were 44-0 up the interval thanks in part to Harry Files’ hat-trick, with Ryan Brown, Dan Fearnley, Christian Taylor, Danny Griffiths and Justin Becker also crossing before the break.

Alex Dunne, Sean Conway and Aaron Barber notched tries in the second half, with Luke Walker converting nine of Rovers’ tries.

Conway put Brown over to open the scoring after five minutes before Fearnley came out on top in a scramble to touch down shortly after and Taylor chased down Connor Muir’s long kick to put the visitors in full control.

Files then grabbed a quickfire double, brushing off three defenders to score his first in the corner before racing over from a scrum.

Griffiths powered over from a quick play-the-ball before Files completed a fine treble by forcing his way over from dummy-half.

By the time Becker had raced through to score between the posts, Rovers had amassed a near-unassailable lead at the break.

It took John Fieldhouse’s side 15 minutes to trouble the scorers again after the break, with Dunne grounding Walker’s chip to the corner.

Conway latched onto Brown’s inside ball to add his name to the scoresheet before Barber rounded off the scoring, picking up a Brown chip to race across the whitewash.
